Q Speech Critique "Teens Shouldn't Drive" Watch the video above. Today's speech is a little bit different because I want to talk about supporting material, and you don't really have too much of that in a demonstration speech other than instructions. This is a persuasive speech, and its goal is to change audience behavior or attitudes, so don't use this as a model for your demonstration speech! I want to focus on how she uses evidence (statistics, examples, visuals, testimony, other) to support her argument that teens shouldn't drive. First, what kinds of evidence does she use to support her argument? Which of these types of support do you find to be most effective and why? Do you think her overall argument is effective because she has structured her speech effectively and used evidence well? Why or why not? Is there anything else she might have added in terms of support to strengthen her argument? She uses many types of evidence to back up her speech about teens being able to drive once they are 18 and I think she did an outstanding job in doing so. She first started off with a small story close to her and showed everyone why she feels that way. She kept eye contact with everyone and did not stutter nor hesitate to say what she felt was correct. She did her research and used the NHTSA to back up her points showing how many teenagers basically are not careful when it comes to driving and how many lives were taken. I do believe her argument was effective because she knew exactly what to talk about, used evidence to back up her speech and even a personal story.
